It sounds like Angelus knows that you'd never decapitate him or stake him, so he knows he can push you to your limit and beyond, and he'd still be safe. I've never met Angelus, but from your description he seems like any serial killer that believes the rest of the world are his toys. Pull the strings and watch them jump.
