Dearest Mother,
I am hoping this letter finds both you and Father well.
At the top of this letter you may find my current mailing address for use while I am assigned here in Sunnydale, at least for the time being.
As you know, I embarked upon this remarkable new chapter in my journeys today when I took over the position of Watcher for the Slayer-- or rather, the Slayers-- who are currently residing in this city. My initial report to the Watchers Council has already been relayed, but in brief, I can see that I will have my work very much cut out for me.
It is clear why the Council made the wise decision to sack Rupert Giles. Under his questionable tutelage, the, I suppose we must refer to her as the "original" Slayer, the improbably named Buffy Summers has become willful, exceptional disrespectful and her methods and behaviour are sloppy, inefficient and rude beyond belief. The "newer" Slayer, one Faith Lehane, has at least the excuse of being from a broken home and having her Watchers expire before applying proper discipline and training to rein her in.
(I apologise for having to relay this, Mother, I know that you and the Gileses have been friends for some years.)
Tomorrow, though, as they say, is a new day. I have reaffirmed my commitment to showing the Council that they have indeed made the right choice in giving me this assignment. Those Slayers will toe the line before the month is out, I guarantee.
My best to you and Father.
Always, your son,
Wesley Wyndam-Pryce
P.S. Please have Father inform the Accounts department that the initial living expenses stipend that was issued to me is insufficient by at least half. I have not been able to purchase a proper set of furniture and will be sleeping on the couch for some time. Thank you. WWP
